Executive Board

Adam Moore – President
Adam Moore is an Assistant Professor of Screenwriting in the Department of Film and Electronic Arts at California State University, Long Beach. For more than ten years he has been a screenwriter, video game writer, comic book writer, television show creator, and professional educator. His daughter, Piper Hales-Moore, is a second grader (already?!) at Franklin Elementary. Adam is a passionate supporter of public education, a vocal evangelist for our school, and believes there’s something magic about the Franklin Community. He hopes you see it too…


Svan Karadottir

Svan Karadottir – Vice President
Mom of Markus (grade 4), Alexander (grade 1) and baby Leo. Vice President of Friends of Franklin. Former life as an art historian and gallery manager in Boston who is now loving LA and the Franklin community with her family. Former FOF President and Fall Fest Co-Chair.




Stacy Fernandez – Secretary
Stacy Fernandez is the mother to Piere, Grade 3, and well as Georgia, who graduated Franklin last year. She works in the world of fragrance and cosmetics and has been living in Los Feliz for over 16 years. Born and raised in Los Angeles, she is passionate about all things Californian, including our incredible schools. Stacy joins the Executive Committee after chairing Franklin Night Out for two years.




Mike Fowler – Treasurer

Mike is the parent of a 1st grader at Franklin and a preschooler (who will be headed to
Franklin in 2017!). By day he works as a commercial real estate broker leasing and selling big-box industrial buildings throughout southern California. By night he counts the generous donations made to Friends of Franklin as its treasurer-elect. He and his family live walking-distance to Franklin and have an outrageous Halloween party every year.

Mom to Wyatt ( grade 5) and Emily (grade 2)…other career lives include dance, theatre, massage therapy…and is headed back to school for Speech Therapy.  Erica previously chaired amazing committees who put together the Annual Fund Drive for two years, and is also involved on the GATE committee.  Most notably she has often been confused with The Franklin Fox.



Kristen KnauffKristen Knauff
I have a deep-seated love of travel and coffee, together or individually. I dream to one day return to my childhood roots of raising chickens. My husband and I have two kids at Franklin (a second grader and a fifth grader) and we are very thankful to be part of this great school community. (Former Fall Fest Chair.)


Crystal White-VanCleemput

Crystal is the parent of Jolie, a 1st grader. Jolie is the last of 4 kids to run the halls of Franklin. She is a new board member, but not new to volunteer work. Currently, Crystal is the President of Friends of the Los Feliz Public Library. She also runs an at home Health & Nutrition business, as well as helps run her husband Rick’s handyman business. She is grateful to have such a strong community to be a part of and can’t wait to get her hands dirty in Franklin this year.

Peter Rauh is a proud parent of third grader, Julian, and knows that the Franklin Avenue School community plays a big part in every student’s success each year.  As a former artist manager and marketing executive (and a graduate of public schools growing up in Cincinnati, Ohio), he is honored to have a hand in helping improve our school this year as a board member.



Ellen Castruccio – Annual Fund Drive Co-Chair

Ellen Castruccio is mom of Sam Pustay who is heading into 1st Grade in August 2017. She is co-chair of the Annual Fund Drive at Franklin. Her professional experience is in the educational software space, including four years developing and marketing educational software, and in the arts—12+ years in the marketing and membership departments at LACMA. She’s grateful to be a part of the Franklin community and to have the chance to support the school.
